Elaeagnus x submacrophylla ‘Gilt Edge’ Oleaster: A medium-sized, vigorous, evergreen shrub, with dark green, broadly ovate leaves with a yellow margin.   Small, fragrant, silvery flowers appear in autumn, and are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.   The flowers are followed by silvery freckled orange fruits in spring.  Makes an interesting informal hedge.   Plant in moist, well drained acid, alkaline or neutral soil in shade, partial shade or full sun.   Hardiness rating H5. At certain times of the year the trees and plants that you buy from us may not look like the images shown on our website, this may be due to deciduous leaves falling, or the plant finishing flowering. All photographs on our website are of our own grown stock, or in the case of Italian specimens or bare root hedging, these are photographs of the plants actually in stock.
