Leucothoe ‘Firestar’

Leucothoe ‘Firestar’ Dog Hobble: An attractive, compact, bushy, evergreen shrub growing to around 1.5m high, with oval-shaped, glossy deep green leaves edged with yellow.   When new leaves emerge they are flushed red, turning dark burgundy as the temperatures fall in autumn.   This shrub is very resilient and will make a beautiful focal point in any garden or when grown in pots.   It is ideal for woodland gardens or shady borders or containers.   Plant in moist, well drained acid soil or ericaceous compost in full or semi-shade.   Will thrive in sun, but will need extra moisture.   Will benefit from ericaceous plant food twice yearly.   Hardiness rating H6. At certain times of the year the trees and plants that you buy from us may not look like the images shown on our website, this may be due to deciduous leaves falling, or the plant finishing flowering. All photographs on our website are of our own grown stock, or in the case of Italian specimens or bare root hedging, these are photographs of the plants actually in stock.
