A slow-growing, large, dense evergreen shrub of compact growth, up to 2m. Holly-like leaves are dark, shining oval green leathery, toothed, up to 2.5-5cm long and conspicuously mottled with cream, and often tinged pink or bronze when young. Very fragrant white flowers are produced in autumn. Makes an interesting evergreen hedge. Plant in all types of moist, well drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Hardiness rating H5.
