Purple Elderflower - A medium sized shrub up to 3m, with very deeply cut leaflets which give a distinctive lacy effect. Large flat heads of tiny pinkish flowers are borne abundantly in summer, and may be followed by purple-black berries. The flowers have a distinctive grape scent of elder flowers. Both the fruit and flowers may be used for flavouring drinks. Plant in full sun or partial shade in moist well drained soils. Will grow in extremely chalky soils. Hardiness rating H6.
