A slow growing, small, dome-shaped evergreen shrub with leathery elliptic leaves. Rubella is a male form which produces large panicles of red buds throughout the winter, these open to white flowers with yellow anthers in early spring. Plant in a sheltered position in neutral to acid, moist, well drained soils in full or semi-shade. Hardiness rating H5.
