A rosette-forming semi evergreen, with wrinkled, dark green leaves. Flower spikes of purple-red buds are produced, opening to white flowers which are flushed with purple and red in late spring and early summer. Plant in full sun, in well drained, light, non-acidic soils. Will also tolerate shallow chalky soils, dry soils and poor soils, but will need staking in richer soils, and will not tolerate wet soils. Hardiness rating H6.
