A medium sized, deciduous shrub up to 3-4m high, with mid-green oval leaves to 15cm long. Deep reddish-purple flower buds appear in mid spring, which open to fragrant, cup shaped red-purple flowers which are pink within. Plant in moist well drained acid or neutral soil, avoiding shallow chalk, in full sun or partial shade. Hardiness rating H6. At certain times of the year the trees and plants that you buy from us may not look like the images shown on our website, this may be due to deciduous leaves falling, or the plant finishing flowering.
