Lenten rose:   A clump-forming semi-evergreen perennial with leathery, divided, mid-green foliage.   The white flowers, speckled purple, bring a burst of colour to borders during the cold winter months and into early spring, and attracting the first bees that wake up from hibernation into the garden.    These plants thrive in well-drained semi-shaded borders and woodland gardens and beneath taller shrubs where other plants fail to grow.   Plant in moist, well drained alkaline or neutral soil in semi-shade.   Hardiness rating H7.
