Pyracantha coccinea ‘Red Column’

Firethorn: An upright, hardy, dense, evergreen shrub with glossy elliptical green leaves and spiny stems.   Clusters of white, hawthorn like flowers are produced in June, and are attractive to bees and other pollenating insects.   The flowers are then followed by masses of red berries which are attractive to birds.   The plants quickly reach heights of up to 3m with a spread of 3m, and are an excellent choice for hedges and screens and provide security due to the spiny branches.   The plants can be free standing or trained against a wall.   Plant in moist well drained alkaline or neutral soil, in full sun or partial shade.   Hardiness rating H6.

At certain times of the year the trees and plants that you buy from us may not look like the images shown on our website, this may be due to deciduous leaves falling, or the plant finishing flowering.

All photographs on our website are of our own grown stock, or in the case of Italian specimens, these are photographs of the plants actually in stock.
