Pieris ‘Forest Flame’

£30.00

A superb, large, slow growing evergreen shrub up to 2.5 – 4m with a spread of 1.5-2.5m.   The young foliage is bright red, turning through pink to creamy white to green.   Large, terminal, drooping  panicles of flowers are formed through the autumn, eventually opening to white, pitcher-shaped flowers during April and May, which are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.   This is an acid loving plant which thrives in well drained soil in partial shade as its native habitat is a woodland environment and requires protection from wind and frost.  Feed with ericaceous fertiliser in spring.   Plant in moist, well drained loam or sandy soil with ericaceous compost in full sun or partial shade.   Hardiness rating H5. At certain times of the year the trees and plants that you buy from us may not look like the images shown on our website, this may be due to deciduous leaves falling, or the plant finishing flowering. All photographs on our website are of our own grown stock, or in the case of Italian specimens or bare root hedging, these are photographs of the plants actually in stock.
