How to understand what girth your tree will be at the time of supply

The nursery standard for measuring a tree at the time of supply is to measure 1 metre up the trunk from the top of the compost if the tree is pot grown, or from the top of the root ball if the tree has been lifted from the field. At 1 metre high, measure the circumference of the girth of the tree in centimetres, this will usually roughly equate to an overall height of between 1.8-2.4m for an 6/8cm girth; 2.4-3m for an 8/10cm girth; 3m-3.6m for a 10/12cm girth and so on.
