Quercus robur

English Oak: Common Oak:  A large, deciduous, long lived, native tree, possibly reaching a mature height of 20-40m, with a broad crown.   Shallowly lobed, dark green leaves are produced, which turn reddish-brown in autumn.   Lon, yellow-green, inconspicuous catkins appear in spring, followed by green acorns, which ripen to brown.   An important food source and shelter for a range of small mammals, birds and insects.   Plant in all types of moist, well drained soil, in full sun or partial shade.   Hardiness rating H6.

Sold in bundles of 10 or 25 whips.

1+0  Field grown from seed in one season – seedling (or sometimes called a whip), which is generally a single stem plant.   These are suitable for planting where soil is shallow or on exposed windy sites or weed competition is less intense.
