Prunus domestica ‘Czar’ is a vigorous, hardy plum variety producing heavy crops of large, dark purple plums with juicy, yellow-green flesh. The fruit has a rich, slightly sharp flavour, making it ideal for cooking, jams, bottling, and also enjoyable when fully ripe for fresh eating.

In spring, the tree is covered in masses of white blossom that attract pollinators, followed by reliable fruiting from late July to August, often earlier than many other plum varieties. ‘Czar’ is partially self-fertile but crops even better when grown near another plum variety.

Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, this dependable UK favourite is well suited to gardens, allotments, and traditional orchards, offering both ornamental value and excellent productivity.
