Alum root: A compact, clump-forming perennial with silvery leaves with very dark veins and maroon undersides, the leaves having a slight ruffed appearance. Pinkish white tubular shaped flowers up to 60cm tall are borne on slender reddish stems through summer. Plant in moist, well drained neutral soil in full sun or partial shade. Drought resistant when established. Hardiness rating H6.
