Beard tongue - An upright, semi-evergreen perennial up to 70cm tall, with narrow, mid-green leaves and stout stems with bell-shaped bright purple flowers outside and around the lips, with a solid white throat. The flowers are produced from midsummer into autumn and are attractive to bees. Plant in full sun or partial shade, in moist, well drained soil. In cold areas protect overwinter with a dry winter mulch. Hardiness rating H4.
