Beard tongue - A semi-evergreen perennial with slender dark green leaves. Flower spikes up to 60cm tall are produced from summer to autumn, with blue and purple shades of tubular flowers, with a white throat, carried in tiers. Plant in moist, well drained soil, avoiding clay, in full sun or partial shade. In cold areas protect overwinter with a dry winter mulch. Hardiness rating H4.
