A small, large-flowered, hardy, vigorous shrub up to about 1m tall, with small, dark green leaves. Flowers with spreading, scarlet sepals, violet petals, and long protruding crimson stamens, are produced very freely throughout the summer and autumn. Plant in any moist, well drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Plant base of stem 5cm below ground level and protect from cold, drying winds. Hardiness rating 4.
