£61.99

Wisteria brachybotrys 'Iko yama fuji ' Silky wisteria 'Okayama' - A strong growing deciduous climber up to 25m,, with pale green leaves up to 35cm in length, with approximately 9 – 11 downy leaflets. The flowers, one of the largest of all wisteria, are rich violet in bud, and open to highly scented pale lilac, hanging in sprays of 10-15cm long, in summer, and are followed with velvety bean-like seed pods up to 20cm long. Plant in moist, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Hardiness rating H6. Wisteria can be left unchecked, but will flower more freely if pruned twice a year. In July or August, after flowering, cut back the green shoots of the current year's growth to five or six leaves. This will control the size of the plant and encourages it to form flower buds rather than green growth. In January or February, cut back the shoots pruned in summer to two or three buds, to ensure that the flowers will not be hidden by the new season's leaves.
