One of the most magnificent evergreens, ‘Little Gem’ is a small, compact tree of columnar habit, growing up to around 8m high.   The oblong, glossy green leaves are up to 12cm in length, with deep brown felt on the underside.   Slightly fragrant, small white flowers up to 10 cm across appear from summer and early autumn.   Ideal for planting against a warm wall.  Regular watering is essential during the first season and until the plant has established.     Plant in full sun or partial shade, in moist, well drained acid, alkaline or neutral soil.   Hardiness rating H4.
