Japanese privet – A compact, medium-sized, upright evergreen shrub or small tree up to 4m tall, with very dense, camellia-like foliage, which are olive green to dark green and waxy, and may be up to 10cm long.   Large conical panicles of small, scented white flowers are borne from mid-summer until early autumn, followed by clusters of small, round, black berries.   An excellent plant for screening.   Plant in all types of moist, well drained soil, in full sun or partial shade.   Hardiness rating H5.
